Tracking climate commitments, disclosure

Two climate-related items worth tracking: the climate pledges of countries around the world, and what the Securities and Exchange Commission might require of companies when it comes to public reporting on climate-related matter.

If you want to follow what countries are making what pledges as part of the Copenhagen Accord, check out the U.S. Climate Action Network's running tally of these commitments as a Jan. 31 deadline approaches.

And on Jan. 27, the SEC is likely to have a packed house as it discusses a new level of disclosure companies will have to make about their climate-related liabilities.
