Sierra Club attacks Sen. Lincoln

By Juliet Eilperin

The Sierra Club launched a hard-hitting radio ad against Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) on Monday, questioning her decision to join Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) in trying to block the Environmental Protection Agency from regulating greenhouse gases.

The 60-second ad, called "Choosing Sides," will run for the next two weeks in the Little Rock and Fort Smith media markets.

Sierra Club's executive director Carl Pope said the group decided to target the moderate Democrat, who's up for reelection this year, because "not only has Senator Lincoln helped stall comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation, now she wants to take us backwards and gut the Clean Air Act, too."

"Senator Lincoln's actions could prevent President Obama from protecting the well-documented threats to public health and welfare presented by global warming pollution," Pope said in a statement. "The legislation she supports would bail out Big Oil by halting the president's plans to save 1.8 billion barrels of oil by increasing fuel economy standards and would also prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from cleaning up dirty coal plants and other big polluters like oil refineries."

The script is as follows:

"Record job losses... foreclosures... rising costs... Arkansas is hurting.

"In these tough times, we need strong leaders to stand up to special interests, and help get our economy back on track.

"But NOW, instead of standing up for Arkansas's future, Senator Blanche Lincoln is co-sponsoring legislation to roll back the Clean Air Act laws that protect us from polluters putting poison into the air we breathe.

"Health experts say that Lincoln's action will undermine one of our country's greatest health and environmental laws.

"They're urging senators to oppose it.

"And if this wasn't bad enough, a major national newspaper reports that the legislation Lincoln supports was done at the behest of lobbyists.

"Senator Lincoln, it's time to choose sides.

"Lobbyists and Washington insiders -- or the health and welfare of Arkansas families?

"Call Senator Lincoln at 501-375-2993.

"Tell her Arkansas needs more jobs and clean air. NOT more favors for special interest lobbyists.

"Paid for by Sierra Club of Arkansas."

Lincoln's campaign could not be reached for comment Monday morning -- when they have a response, it will go up in a separate Post Carbon item.

There''s a HUGE difference between 'facts or evidence' that are "well-documented" and those that are merely often repeated. The AGQ Alarmists - now that their long-term cooking the books and baking the data has been revealed - are relying on repetition and volume to overwhelm skeptics who fail to make the leap of faith from stories well and often told to useful, reliable data.
The Sierra Club may have good intentions, but they don't (or no longer) have enough trustworthy facts on their side to push for the 'banishment' of those who don't buy in to AGW as deeply as they have.

"Cap & Trade" or "Cap & Tax" was nothing more than a scheme to rip-off taxpayers, either directly or indirectly, to feweds the Government coffers and financially reward the dew and "spread the wealth' to less developed nations and those who fostered the belief in "Global Warming."

King Obummer's staged "Dog & Pony Show" showing the "Centrist Democrats" "challenging" King Obummer's rules were a joke. One thing that King Obummer doesn't get is that "We the People" see through this baloney.

We need to drill. Having the Sierra Club, WWF, Earth First or some other similar organization, tying up progress, until a "donation" or like kind is made, is a shakedown.

The time has come that when such an organization that blocks progress, that they be subject to lawsuits, for losses incurred by not drilling or excavating and have them raked over the coals and not rewarded, but have them pay the freight, since we all suffer from thee acts of the few.

The Obama Administration illegally reached an "endangerment finding" that ruled greenhouse gases pose a threat to human health, and as a result can be legislated under the Clean Air Act.

This is a perversion of the Clean Air Act to circumvent Congress and administratively act on global warming. The Sierra Club should lose its tax exempt status and the EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson should be removed from office.
