His Cause Endures
Sen. Kennedy's focus on health care and his unwavering desire to reform the current system was emblematic in his recent statement that health-care reform is the "cause of my life." He once again demonstrated that commitment as he fought for a better health-care system for us all and shouldered the weight of his own cancer.
Senator Kennedy did not live to see passage of the legislation he so fervently championed. He did give us a glimpse of our capacity to create a better system. No greater tribute to him could be paid than for all of us to join together without rancor to focus on the challenges at hand, and finish the difficult work of building the new health-care system he dreamed for us.
