A Grand Slam
President Obama accomplished three things tonight. He reminded the American people what problems we need to solve; he was clear about what health reform will do for us; and he reiterated his commitment to only sign legislation that is paid for. He laid out a plan that is bold and progressive. His plan will work, providing fiscal and health security to all Americans. Obama demonstrated strong leadership tonight that reached across the political isle. It sets the stage to reach compromise to get health reform done. It is now up to the members of Congress to not squander the moment.
