Reduce Costs First
Reforming our health care "system" is a very important, complex and controversial issue. Realistically, achieving successful and sustainable reforms will require agreement on a set of principles and priorities first and then a series of legislative proposals that are consistent therewith.
President Obama needs to be clear regarding his views on relevant principles and priorities. He also needs to be clear regarding any critical elements that he believes should or should not be included. Thereafter, he needs to work with the Hill and a range of key stakeholders to reach agreement on appropriate actions. Importantly, any comprehensive health care reform should involve a significant citizen education and engagement effort.
Furthermore, we should not engage in any significant expansion of health care coverage unless and until we have demonstrated that we can meaningfully reduce the rate of increase in health care costs and until we have made a significant reduction in our tens of trillions of existing unfunded federal health care promises. We must not shoot ourselves again!

Prescription costs have become increasingly difficult to manage. You can start saving by switching to generic drugs. Medtipster.com allows you to type in your drug name, dosage and zip code to search for and locate prescription drugs that are available on discount generic programs across the United States; many of which are available for as little as $4. Prescriptions that are not available on a discounted program often have therapeutic alternatives on a discounted generic program, which are also available .
