Leading From the Front

Sen. Kennedy was an extraordinary leader. He was driven by his heart, but his head developed a keen strategic way forward. He was both principled and practical.

He understood that leadership meant going first and on issue after issue -- minimum wage, children's health care, immigration -- he led and kept focused on the goal, neither distracted by setbacks or deterred by delays.

He was also a gentle man, comfortable with presidents or janitors, and he loved his family. His presence changed our country and our world.

We love and will miss you Senator.
