The scientific method

In response to this week's On Leadership question: Last year was a tough one for many organizations, with fewer employees required to do more with less. How can leaders of such organizations motivate their people as they head into 2010?

Honestly share context around the reality of the challenges. This should be iterative and interactive with teaching, listening, debating, and learning.

Commit to investing in the needed people and systems to do work.

Be crystal clear in the vision and goals.

Execute, learn, modify, improve, and accelerate.

Reward and recognize.
