A House divided
Can people -- Congresspeople, at that -- who strongly disagree with each other come up with and execute a successful game plan? Is this a recipe for a lose-lose scenario, or might a surprise be in the offing?

In praise of conflict
The reality is that the "bitter enmity" of politicians is about as real as a WWF show. Throwing and taking fake punches is part of the entertainment. It's all part of the job.

Harmony is overrated
Fresh off of every election, there is self-congratulation and the talk of mandate. But the grandstanding generally gives way to governance, which requires a clash, then compromise.
