Networking my way to success
I read an excellent blog post this morning by Charlie O'Donnell (founder of Path 101) about identifying (and going after) the ultimate "Who's Who?" list of people you'd like to get involved in your company either as advisers, investors, or just champions. While he directed it at startups, I think it pertains to anyone in the early stages of success. His post was an important reminder to me not to approach networking haphazardly, rather, to be deliberate about pushing the boundaries of my network myself. I have always kept an "aspirational contacts" list, inspired by Keith Ferrazzi's book "Never Eat Alone," but I think the name "aspirational" may be holding me back. It is not about simply aspiring-- it is about creating, and continually adding to, the ultimate Who's Who list and taking steps toward engaging those on it.
Have you created an ultimate who's who list, either personally or for your business? Would love to hear about your experience with this, please share in the comments.

It's an interesting perspective. I think we all have an embedded circle of friends and contacts who are both aspirational as well as contributors to the richness of our personal and professional lives. Consciously working on an expanding universe could contribute to our future success and, in the process, remind us of the current success we have and those who contribute to the success each and every day.
