Going for It: Woman Warrior

What are you 'Thankfulfor'?

In addition to sharing my day-to-day experience with Bandsintown, I am excited about using this blog to highlight other startups on the path to success in the D.C. area.  Given that it is November (read: Thanksgiving!), I am particularly thrilled to highlight one of my favorite new companies in the D.C. area: Thankfulfor.

A personal and collective gratitude journal, Thankfulfor was started by two pillars of the DC tech and startup community: Jen Consalvo and Frank Gruber of Shiny Heart Ventures.  The site not only reminds me to reflect on what I am grateful for, but it also gives me the opportunity to share in what others appreciate as well.

When it comes to success, I can't think of a more important mindset to cultivate than that of gratitude. A favorite yoga instructor of mine, Alex Paraskevas (owner of Yoga Chai), always says "an attitude without gratitude is just an attitude." I completely agree.  When I am not tuned into a mindset of appreciation, I am far less kind, more stressed and a whole lot less productive.  I guess that is one reason I am so #thankfulfor Thankfulfor!

Jen and Frank recently invited me to participate in a challenge: to highlight at least one thing a day that I am thankful for over the months of November and December (after all, why limit gratitude to November?).  Not only I am I accepting this challenge, but I invite you to join me in it as well!

Head over to Thankfulfor to sign up, and then every Monday we can kick off the week by reflecting on what we are thankful for and the positive impact of undertaking this challenge together.
