Going for It: Woman Warrior

Dreaming and planning

Amber posted a great quote by Seth Godin on her blog yesterday: "Anxiety is nothing...but repeatedly re-experiencing failure in advance. What a waste."

I absolutely believe that when you are worrying, you are planning, which is a dangerous mindset because it treats the worry as an inevitability.  The more you practice and prepare for negative outcomes, the more you are looking for signs of their arrival.

The corollary to this, of course, is dreaming. Todd has a great quote that says "Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning."

If you are going to spend your time preparing for some unknown future outcome, at least make it prepare you to have your dreams come true.
