It's the socks. The socks pushed me over the line from "Gutsy" to "Wierd."

"Wierd" is like "Weird" only a little more so.

This is a set-back for D.C. United and for soccer generally.

The Awesomeness, Gutsiness, and Appropriateness of the photo of undressed professional soccer players is even less than Sarah Palin's ex-son-in-law posing for a pornography magazine.

I would like this -- if they were women.

It inappropriate. This is not how the American people should display itself. Especially in a world-wide played sport. Keep the nakedness in the bedroom.

This photograph is utterly inappropriate, weird, and senseless. What idiot made the decision to cast America in such a disgraceful display of utter disrespect for a sport that enjoys world-wide prominence and adulation? In fact, this is an affront to all lovers of sport! Someone should take responsibility and apologize to the public for this offensive photograph.

Mind you, as an artist, I regard the human figure as awesome in its beauty. However, this photograph is a pornographic display, a manifestation of the clumsy unease of the subjects--a far cry from the magnificence of Michaelangelo's unclothed David.

It's definitely not inappropriate/embarrassing for American soccer. Do a google image search for Cannavaro, the Italian national team captain who won the World Cup. (

The ESPN magazine is trying to show the beauty of the athlete's body in a respectful way, and the DC United pic is a comedic look at the subject.

It doesn't bother me but I don't think the quality of the photography is great. Personally I think the idea of doing this shoot is in the Gutsy/Awesome category, the outcome is more in the Weired zone. All of those how think this is pornographic or obscene, get real.

This is pornographic? Get a grip people!

There isn't a big deal--at all!
