The Capitals are the best sports entertainment in the city. You get a good show, an energized atmosphere, and a competitive team. While it's not cheap, you don't feel like your are getting gouged the way you do at a Redskins or Nationals game.

I'm embarrassed to admit I've never even heard of DC United.
Not being athletic, I follow local sports "culturally" rather than religiously by reading about them in the Wash Post, where in 23 years I don't recall ever seeing DC United grace the front page unlike the Redskins Wizards and Nats.
