Montgomery County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger believes that if immigrant checks were enforced locally, it would prevent witnesses from stepping forward and aiding in criminal investigations. Read the full article here.

This is amazing, I hope that the results of this poll is shared with our elected officials. Almost 90% say that immigrant checks for the community are GOOD!

Montgomery County Police Chief should be fired if he cannot uphold his sworn duty! Those that break our laws need to be arrested and pay for their crimes!

Mr Manger seems is the only one making sense of all these issues about immigration. I heard so many immigrants who did not go to the police because they were scared...and they were robbed, bitten almost to death, raped...abused, and even witness murder .etc... Of course Mr Manger is absolutely right , unless Americans are not interested in solving crimes ....Wake up Americans ,we closed our eyes for more than 30 years, meantime, the "illegals' have worked in every job that Americans did not want to do. Almost every house that was in construction and I visited from 2003 to 2005 was built with employees that were immigrants !!! ,fruits and vegetables picked by immigrants, factory workers in the Metal , Carpenter, Waste, Toxic Waste, Cleaning Toxins/Chemistry, Meat and Poultry Processing, canned food, clothing, and many more other industries.. they were and are immigrants !!!this is 50% and 50% responsibility,Americans are as much responsible as the immigrants.
Yes, we should deport the criminals, but the good ,decent and hard working people who did not cause any trouble and have been in this country for more than 3 decades..please... .. everyone of you have enjoyed the benefits.. maybe without even knowing it...but that's the truth.

The feds have failed to protect American citizens from having their identities stolen by illegal aliens. The SSA and IRS acknowledge that 7.5 million of the 12 million illegal aliens are using stolen SSNs.

Identity theft is a felony. Those that have illegally come here, stolen our IDs and broken numerous other laws have already proven they are not welcome in the USA. All others who play the rules are welcome.

If you've immigrated to the US legally, welcome!

If not, "Illegal immigration is NOT a civil right!"

all the people posting here.. is not what real america is..

Yes it is bad because we (hispanics) are targeted. I have been stopped like 10 times this year with no ticket. They stopped me for x excuse. Last time, a sheriff officer tore up my birth certificate because he taught it was fake, because my acent, because my color, and because I am mexican. I had to go their office to pay for a new one or that I will file a complain..... see.. in arizona....if you are legal they treat like like an illegal... I do not want to know how they treat real illegal people...

If Montgomery County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger were to read the Arizona law, which he clearly has not, he would learn that the example he provided is not applicable, for the Arizona law only requires immigration checks if someone is detained or charged with a crime.

It would not be applicable to witnesses of a crime.

NO ONE profits by illegal immigration except for the traitors who employ them and their political shills! I'm so sick and tired of the "cheap veggies" argument.

Those vegtables are not cheap. The price tag is low because the greedy scum subvert the laws of our own Republic hire illegal laborers, taking advantage of desperate people and cutting out American workers at the same time! Basically, we ALL subsidize their vegtables with our tax-dollars that go to dealing with the illegal economy either directly by enforcement and investigative costs or indirectly by having to implement social programs for America citizens who can't find work because why pick vegtables for $2.00/hour when one can make more off public assistance?

So quit pretending that the end justifies the means and that it is OK to take advantage of huge groups of people, abuse them and pay them subpar wages while excluding US workers as long as we have cheap vegtables. So please quit thinking you're being some sort of liberal humanitarian when you look the other way or even abet a system of illegal immigration that has created an EXPLOITED LABOR CLASS in this country and, indeed, exists only to do so!

If you really think we need more people, that's fine, but then PLEASE advocate for mechanism to allow for more LEGAL immigration. I am myself the descendant of immigrants and have NO problem with immigration as long as it's legal. ILLEGAL immigration is bad for our economy, worse for our Republic and worst of all for the migrants themselves!

My lettuce before my liberty!

What's funny is that if you're rich you can just buy your way in.

Looks like Americans are ready to end the "invasion & occupation" of our nation.

If Americans had wanted to stop immigration, Americans would had done it. We have the most sophisticated technology ..don't you think we could had stopped illegal immigration before ?. The immigrants did not cause the problem in our economy..bad administrations caused it !!!!. They are already here and many have been living for 20 or more years in the is too late to talk about who play rules are welcome who didn't no..
. we have to do something now with the ones that we already are we going to separate the inmigrants who committed a crime from the ones who didn't if we don't bring them to light by giving documents, checking background, DNI, fingerprint..etc.
So , obviously is much more than the "veggies", unless some people live inside a cauliflower, drive a carrot, eat onions, write on potatoes and wear a lettuce......................
(By the way, more easy to get your identity stolen by someone who you know or work with , or have some connection.. with you ,than by an immigrant, and the statistics presented from some of you are not exactly right.
Yes, we took advantaged, because we had the chance to select our officials...and we selected the ones who closed the eyes to this issue..And we did not boycott any company .. and we kept buying....and building .. Now, keep being distracted by this government that it does not want you to think about of what really is going on..but rather go after the" lettuce".Obviusly they are doing a very good job in that..
Actually, very interesting point, if we do not recognize them and giving them residency, today,to those who did not cause any problem ,and are paying taxes...(millions of immigrants do), we will never stop the under ground human exploitation, which decent Americans, with moral , spiritual, ethics and patriotic values should have never allowed that all these should have happened in their own land, in the first place.

I am really tired of the national media trying to paint the AZ law and other similar measures as detrimental. Between 60% and 74% of the American public support the AZ law and an immigration crackdown overall. The media elite is trying to "teach" us through their constant negative commentary, but most of them don't live where the illegals live.

In 2008, all murders of citizens (with only one exception) were committed by illegal aliens.

These crimes ranged in heinousness from merely gunning down a 14-year-old honor student on a bus (Tai Lam) to bludgeoning an elderly woman to death and then burning her alive in her own living room.

All of the murderers had been looked at by police who would reasonably suspect that they were illegally in the country, but Manger's and Leggett's policy forced officers to not inquire about immigration status and to never contact Immigration.

Shortly after the most heinous of these crimes, we got a new policy; people arrested for Crimes of Violence or Handgun charges would have their immigration status checked.

Since that policy was enacted, and for a while remained in force, the murder rate in the County was CUT IN HALF.

Don't people think that it's more important to have cut the murder rate in half, than to hope that some illegal aliens will be willing to aid criminal investigations?

Look at it this way: if the police write a traffic ticket for ANYONE, automated systems should run their name past Immigration. Unless they already have a bench warrant issued, hand them the ticket and let them go on their way.

Then if Immigration later sends back a positive "hit" for immigration status violations, the next time the officer runs "wants and warrants", he'll get a "hit" on the County database system telling him that it is known for certain that the person is illegally present in the USA. Then the officer can decide, based on the present situation, whether or not he wants to drag that person to the station for further search and questioning.

That way, the officer could take good witness from someone he knows is illegally here, but he could alternatively get a troublemaker deported for the stub of a marijuana cigarette or unpaid parking tickets.
