Would you vote for Wyclef?

Hip-hop artist Wyclef Jean has announced his bid for the presidency of Haiti. If he wins the Nov. 28 election he will face the Herculean task of rebuilding from the Jan. 12 earthquake that killed a government-estimated 300,000 people while managing billions in international reconstruction dollars.

Do you think Wyclef Jean would be a good president for Haiti? Vote below.

For Haiti, yes. He can't do any worse.

I think I understand what he wants...
he wants a safe haven for his buddies from American law...
the problem is...
what will he do with the current occupants of haiti...
I imagine he will ship them off somewhere...

Can you say 'Thugocracy'?

I really don't understand all the negativity. There are a few good reasons to vote for him, the biggest one being that for the first time in forever, Haiti would have a President who is already filthy rich (and not simply by Haitian standards) and has no need to loot the country to line his pockets. Jean may not know much about the nuts and bolts of governance but he is intelligent enough to hire a bunch of technocrats to handle that part of the job. He has no real political debts to pay in Haiti, so he might actually be able to find people interested in making the toilets flush rather than a bunch of party hacks with their hands out.

My thoughts exactly. What Haiti needs is someone who's not some corrupt kleptocrat like the leaders of virtually every other third world country on earth. Wyclef is already rich enough. He could very easily live well in places much nicer than Haiti. Clearly he won't be deriving much material benefit from winning the job. He may not know much (or anything) about governing, but if he's honest and actually cares about the country more than enriching himself then he'll do alright.

Can we send him Obama, Pelosi, and Reid to help out? They've done wonders for these United States.
