THE QUESTION

Does Peyton Manning Deserve A Pro Bowl Start?

Is he the best QB in the AFC or did his status give him a leg up over Philip Rivers who didn't even make the team?

Hell NO he doesn't deserve to be there. But the NFL is just SOOOOO in love with him and his lil bro that they need to have him in. Ben Roethlisberger is leading the best team in football. Rivers has much better numbers. Why aren't they in? Because Peyton is the face of the league and they love to push that pretty mug everywhere. This is why nobody cares about the pro bowl.

Peyton is in because his advertiser dollar rating is the best in the league. Period. I agree that either Roethlisberger or Rivers would be a better pick, and everybody is overlooking the miracle that is Matt Cassel.

Right now, Matt Cassel is repeating the history Tom Brady made in 2001, with one important difference: the coaching staff has given Cassel much broader authority to throw the ball. Earlier this year, Cassel set an NFL record by having over 400 yards passing and 60 yards rushing for two straight games. The guy who hadn't started a game since high school is now giving Tom Brady a run for the money. This is the best story in pro football which nobody's talking about.

Now I understand full well why Peyton is going to the Pro Bowl. Visa gets a vote too, and in the end, it's all about the bottom line. At least Peyton will be well-rested after the Dolts' early exit from the playoffs this year...

Rivers is on a losing team and enough people didn't vote for him, simple as that. The pro bowl is a populatity contest and a gauge of the customer satisfaction a given team has in their market. The Colts are winning, Peyton is very popular there and is nationally known and got the votes.

Why not call it the Sammy Baugh Bowl? Pick 11 guys from each conference--only 11. This way we will know who the real football players are. My guess is we might end up with a middle linebacker at quarterback, but this is about entertainment.
Let members of military pick the players.
