I feel badly for Cowboys fans like I felt badly for the Browns fans when Modell moved to Baltimore. Jones has ruined a once great franchise. I am convinced the football gods are punishing him for the way he treated Tex Schramm and Coach Landry.

Jerry Jones took a do nothing team in the 80s and made them into champs in the 90s. How quickly we forget that. 3 World championships, 7 divisional championships, 11 playoff appearances. No team has played as well over that period. Hello people, let's get the horse back in the barn and settle ourselves down.

MargiePaul, the only thing Jerry Jones did right was to hire Jimmy Johnson and let him run the team.

The cowboys went downhill right around the time that Jones decided that he was the reason for the Cowboy's success, when it's pretty clear in hindsight that Jimmy was the reason for the success.

That eats at Jerry Jones and he has tried to prove every year since he fired him that Johnson was a fluke. Every year that passes proves exactly the opposite.

Here's what we know:

1) Jimmy Johnson was the reason the team won
2) The team won in spite of Jerry Jones
3) Jerry Jones refuses to hire another strong coach
4) Jerry Jones is today the defacto coach.
5) Parcells left primarily because Jerry Jones was a big PITA.
6) What a great pickup T.O. was!

Living in Dallas, I get to see and hear all of Jones' blather about commitment, blah, blah, blah. He's a jerk, a short-sighted egomaniac, an embarrassment, and an enabler of over-the-hill veterans who know a sugar daddy when they see and hear it. Jimmy Johnson built the contemporary franchise, and then Jones took it into ruin. Parcells cleaned it up and straightened it out, and once again Jones is running it into the ground.

Jimmy Johnson is getting too much credit. Look at the history Ombudsman. Jones was GM when Johnson was in place. He was the guy who made the decisions to draft Troy Aikman and Emmit Smith and all those great players from the glory days.
Not only that, he HIRED JIMMY JOHNSON who is a great coach. He HIRED BARRY SWITZER another great coach. Those moves helped make Dallas the greatest dynasty in football.
