Is the Combine Overrated?

Do teams and coaches give too much credence to players' performances at the NFL Scouting Combine?

It is underrated. Don't forget they drug test them. In this day and age that is invaluable info for teams.

Some events matter more than others. the 40-yard dash is very overrated. The position specific drills are given more importance by people who know the game but it's not as quotable as the 40 which sounds so good on TV and everyone has to do. For me the combine is like the SAT. It's a generic measure far from perfect but the best we got for now.
