Aprogressiveindependent: No, the NFC east is not the weakest division. New York and Dallas are good teams. The weakest are the NFC west and AFC west....

This is the stupidest topic yet. The relative strength or weakness of the various divisions is not a matter of opinion, it's an objective reality. When teams in the same division play one another, the wins and losses cancel out. The result tells you nothing about the relative strength of the different divisions. It's only games between teams in different divisions that can reveal that.

Here are the cumulative records of each division, as of 11/22:

NFC East: +4
NFC North: +2
NFC South: 0
NFC West: -10 (!)

AFC East: -2
AFC North: -2
AFC South: +10 (!)
AFC West: -2

The way you get these is by adding up all the wins and all the losses of the teams in each division and subtracting the losses from the wins. The net result shows how each division did against the *others*.

It's not even close: The AFC South is the strongest division and the NFC West is the weakest, by a mile.

Shucks, I wasted my time doing a stupider computation, but interestingly enough, I got the same result. I just added up the wins in each divsion figuring that divsional games would cancel out since one team would lose, but another would win.

Anyway donnolo's method is more accurate and he is correct. It is just arithmetic.

But notice that the beast is the second strongest.
