THE QUESTION

"Purple drank" a problem?

Is the increasing prevalence of the so-called "purple drank" -- a recreational drug beverage containing prescription-strength cough syrup, 7Up and Jolly Rancher candy that has been linked to recent arrests of a pair of NFL players -- becoming a serious problem in athlete culture? If so, what should be done about it?

jhtlag1: That sounds more disgusting for the Jolly Ranchers and the 7-up than worrying about the codeine. What are they thinking?...

wlockhar: Give me a break. So some teens want to sip on some freaking cough syrup? At least it isn't crack or heroine. Just raise the purchase age ...

jerzyguy29: I say let them drink it!!! FOOSEBALL IS THE DEBIL!!! ...

Hah, the first thing that popped in my head was Dave Chappelle's voice in his Sunny D joke: "I want that purple stuff..." I tell ya, these players are worse than girl drink drunks, how lame are you to get wasted on candy flavored cough syrup! Seriously, just stick to the hard stuff, its completely legal and you wont look like a little kid with a Kool Aid colored tongue...

Just raise the purchase age to 18 and shut up.
