Fantasy Check

Fantasy Gear

Fantasy drafts are set to begin in earnest over the next few weeks. Commissioners are finalizing the logistics of their league drafts, including the all-important choices of food and beverage. Now they can add fashion to the mix.

Art of the Fan is a Charlotte-based apparel line that, according to its Web site, "takes inspiration from things that have the power to turn people into fanatics." Fantasy football clearly falls into that category, and it's precisely that obsessed demographic Art of the Fan owner Corey Robertson is targeting.

"Since I've been interested in getting started in the T-shirt business for a while, fantasy football seemed like the perfect niche," Robertson, a Web/graphics designer, wrote in an e-mail.

Robertson and his wife began the business last year, and Robertson, who has been playing fantasy since 2001, was so focused on his new venture that he did not participate in a fantasy league during that time. Talk about dedication.

Some of his designs include fantasy champion, genius and addict shirts. Art of the Fan also has a line designed specifically for female fantasy players and fantasy widows.

"In addition to our current line of shirts, I'm looking to add a new design every week of the NFL regular season as well," Robertson wrote. "That should be a challenge, but I think it will be a lot of fun."
