Fantasy Check

Trade Offer

An owner in my 14-team league who is picking second overall just circulated an e-mail asking if there was interest in swapping his set of draft picks with another owner who picks between fifth and 11th in the first round.

To be clear, that's his entire set of picks for another complete set of picks.

"Let me walk away with a Frank Gore-type guy, and not have to wait until pick No. 27 coming back around," this owner wrote in an e-mail.

Apparently the No. 2 pick isn't particularly appetizing this season. After Adrian Peterson at No. 1 overall, there's precious little agreement as to whom should be next.

The most often mentioned names are Michael Turner, Maurice Jones-Drew and Matt Forte, but there are knocks against all of them.

Turner led the league with 376 carries last season -- that's a lot of wear and tear -- and isn't fully proven. Jones-Drew has the backfield to himself now, but he is untested when it comes to handling a full-time workload. Forte needs to show he can produce while being the focus of defenses. He was hardly that going into last season as a rookie.

Fantasy Check is perfectly content picking sixth, where any number of players could fall to me, and it's where I plan to stay.
