Fantasy Pickups: Week 3 RBs

During the first part of this week, the fantasy world was buzzing over young wide receivers on the waiver wire.

By now fantasy players are probably familiar with the likes of Julian Edelman, Pierre Garcon and Johnny Knox, and other more recognized names such as the Giants' Steve Smith and Mario Manningham and the Rams' Laurent Robinson may no longer be available.

But just because there may be a run on waiver wire wide receivers doesn't mean there aren't nice pickups out there. If you're in the market for a running back, it's worth looking into some of these names.

Lynell Hamilton, Saints: He got most of the first-team reps during Wednesday's practice, as RotoWorld reported via a Tweet from the Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan.

Fantasy players were riding high on Mike Bell for the first two weeks of the season, but he sprained the MCL in his right knee on Sunday against the Eagles. With Pierre Thomas trying to come back from an MCL injury as well, the Saints apparently are in search of an every-down back, which Reggie Bush simply isn't.

FFToolbox had this to say: "Hamilton is a guy to have on your radar. Any running back in this Saints' offense certainly has some value."

Justin Forsett, Seahawks: In his latest RB Handcuffs, FantasyGuru's Adam Caplan writes, "However, RB Justin Forsett has been getting more touches than [Edgerrin] James so far. So in normal situations, Forsett may be the backup, but if Jones couldn't play, they could use James as the starter with Forsett as the backup and change of pace."

Forsett is averaging 6.5 yards per carry and has 109 yards from scrimmage on 14 touches.

Tashard Choice, Cowboys: The third-string tailback in Dallas was rock solid last season as the featured running when Marion Barber and Felix Jones were hurt. Now with Barber's quadriceps injury, Choice may be more involved again this weekend.

Choice was a major topic in the fantasy world early this week, but since yesterday's reports indicating Barber practiced, his stock has dipped a bit. Pro Football Insight writes: "As for Choice, no he will not put up Barber numbers, but he will produce points in a tandem with Felix Jones. Tashard Choice is a solid substitute for Barber and is a solid flex-level play who could produce RB#2-like numbers."

Remember the Cowboys play Monday night, giving Barber and extra day to nurse that quadriceps injury.
