Fantasy Check

Injury Updates

Adrian Peterson, Eli Manning, Marion Barber and Darren McFadden headline the fantasy injury report this week.

According to a report in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Peterson "tweaked his leg" on Monday night when the Packers stripped the ball and returned it for a touchdown.

Since opening the season with 180 yards and three touchdowns against the Browns, Peterson has had games of 92-1, 85-0 and Monday's 55-1. He's due for a monster game, and as luck would have it for Peterson owners, the Vikings play St. Louis this week. The Rams are yielding 135 rushing yards per game.

Manning has been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, but he's been cleared to play. If and how well he plays depends on his pain threshold. He has a great matchup this weekend against Oakland, although wide receiver Steve Smith faces a big test against Nnamdi Asomugha, regarded as one of the NFL's best cover corners.

Barber had one carry in the second half against Denver after his quadriceps tightened, according to the Dallas Morning News. The paper also reported the Cowboys are unsure if they will have Roy Williams for their next game at Kansas City. Williams has three injured ribs from a 17-10 loss to the Broncos.

McFadden is out two to three weeks with a torn miniscus. That means Justin Fargas and Michael Bush will get heavy work, but both face a tough matchup against the Giaints. McFadden owners should be extremely concerned he had seven touches for minus-two yards against Houston, which entered the game ranked last against the run.
