PvP: Week 4 Wide Receivers

Before we get to the list, let me be the first to check myself and say I missed on Terrell Owens, whom I said would rebound just fine from his Week 3 performance in which he had no catches.

On Sunday against Miami, Owens had a promising start with a 39-yard reception, but he had just 21 receiving yards thereafter on two catches. Owens had seven targets, but quarterback Trent Edwards missed on several of those throws.

Here's the top 10 projected wide receivers, as compiled by Fantasy Football Nerd:

Vincent Jackson: 13.2/5
Reggie Wayne 13.2/13
Randy Moss: 12.3/11
Andre Johnson: 12.1/6
Chad Ochocinco: 11.3/14
Calvin Johnson: 11/14
Greg Jennings: 10.7/TBD
Mario Manningham: 10.4/4
Marques Colston: 9.9/3
Santana Moss: 9.9/13

Underachieving was the theme this week for the top wide receivers. Only Santana Moss, whom the Redskins finally are working into the mix downfield, Calvin Johnson and Ochocinco exceeded projections.

The overachiever of the week at the position was the Giants' Steve Smith, who was projected for nine points and recorded 25. Smith has been on a tear this season, with a league-high 411 yards and four touchdowns, and is becoming a must-start regardless of matchup.
