PvP: Week 5 Running Backs

As good a week as it was for the top quarterbacks, it was just as bad for the elite running backs. None exceeded projections, and five didn't reach even double figures in fantasy points.

Here's the top 10 PvP, with rankings provided by Fantasy Football Nerd.

1. Adrian Peterson: 20 projected points/18 actual points
2. Maurice Jones-Drew: 19.6/5
3. Chris Johnson: 18.5/3
4. Rashard Mendenhall: 16/14
5. Brandon Jacobs: 15.1/6
6. Glen Coffee: 14.8/12
7. Marion Barber: 14.3/5
8. DeAngelo Williams: 14.3/5
9. Ronnie Brown: 13.4/TBD
10. Tim Hightower: 13/10

The overachievers of the week included Ahmad Bradshaw and Cedric Benson. Bradshaw was projected for 9.2 points and accounted for 28 with 165 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns.

Benson, meantime, was projected for seven points against the Baltimore defense, which had not yielded 100 rushing yards to a player in 40 games. That ended on Sunday, when Benson ran for 120 in the Bengals' 17-14 upset.

In a troubling trend for Chris Johnson owners, the Titans running back was the biggest underachiever again after his worst performance of the season. He's had just one game this season with more than 11 fantasy points, and on Sunday he finished more than 15 points below his projected total.

I won my fantasy matchup this week despite Chris Johnson being my #1 RB. Heck, even Westbrook scored a TD.
