PvP: week 6 wide receivers

What a horrible weekend overall for fantasy wide receivers. Apart from Randy Moss, there was not a single PvP overachiever in Week 6 among the Fantasy Football Nerd's projected top 10.

Here's the lsit:

1. Andre Johnson 14.1/13
2. Steve Smith, Panthers: 13.5/0
3. Larry Fitzgerald: 13.3/16
4. Randy Moss: 12.4/30
5. Nate Burleson: 12/4
6. T.J Houshmandzadeh: 11.9/3
7. Chad Ochocinco: 11.7/10
8. Greg Jennings: 11.6/6
9. Santana Moss: 11.5/4
10. Brandon Marshall: 11.4/TBD

Overachievers this week other than Randy Moss included Wes Welker (11.2/27), Hines Ward (10.2/21), Derrick Mason (7.4/15) and Sidney Rice (6.4/17).

Coincidentally, both Steve Smiths were supreme underachievers this week. The Panthers' Smith wore the fantasy collar, and his counterpart with the Giants produced a whopping four points.

As long as the Panthers can run effectively with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, there's no need to force the ball to Smith, especially given the erratic play of quarterback Jake Delhomme. That's bad news for Smith owners.

As for the Giants' Smith, rookie Hakeem Nicks has emerged as the heir apparent to Plaxico Burress. The rise of Nicks relegates Smith and ailing Mario Manningham, both short-lived early-season fantasy sensations, to low-end WR2 or flex starters.
