Fantasy Check

PvP: week 7 quarterbacks

It was a fine week for the top five projected fantasy quarterbacks, including a second straight huge outing for Tom Brady and a sixth straight multiple touchdown performance from Peyton Manning.

Here's the top 10, with projections provided by Fantasy Football Nerd:

1. Peyton Manning: 23.1 projected points/27 actual points
2. Aaron Rodgers: 22.9/29
3. Tom Brady: 22.8/30
4. Drew Brees: 22.1/29
5. Philip Rivers: 21.2/29
6. Matt Schaub: 20.4/22
7. Ben Roethlisberger: 19.6/13
8. Eli Manning: 19/15
9. Jay Cutler: 17.6/16
10. Kurt Warner: 17.3/15

Overachievers of the week were Carson Palmer (13.8/39), who threw five touchdowns in a 45-10 victory over Chicago, and Tony Romo (16.4/33).

Don't fall into the same trap regarding Palmer as some did with Matt Hasselbeck after he threw four touchdowns two weeks ago, then followed that performance with no touchdowns and one interception. Palmer hasn't regained must-start status yet, and he has a difficult matchup in two weeks against Baltimore following the Bengals' bye in Week 8.

The biggest underachiever was Shaun Hill (13/1), who got benched in favor of Alex Smith. Smith, by the way, was projected for zero points, so you could argue he was a more potent overachiever than Palmer or Romo after throwing for 206 yards and three touchdowns.
