Fantasy Check

Where's Adrian Peterson?

That's the question I kept asking myself as I scoured the Web for expert rankings and projections for Week 6 running backs.

The consensus No. 1 pick is not the top projected running back for Week 6 on many of the major fantasy sites, largely because he has a difficult matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, who last week allowed a running back -- the Bengals' Cedric Benson -- to gain 100 yards for the first time in 40 games.

The lowest I found Peterson was 11th on KFFL, which has Benson first, followed by Michael Turner (vs. Chicago), Chris Johnson (at New England), Knowshon Moreno (at San Diego) and Thomas Jones (vs. Buffalo).

ESPN lists Peterson fifth behind Rashard Mendenhall (vs. Cleveland), Pierre Thomas (vs. N.Y. Giants), Maurice Jones-Drew (vs. St. Louis) and Turner.

Pro Football Weekly has Peterson fifth, with Benson, Jones-Drew, Brian Westbrook (at Oakland) and Turner Nos. 1-4.

FFToolbox apparently isn't all that concerned Peterson is playing the fourth-ranked rushing defense in the NFL (76 ypg). It has Peterson second with 14.3 projected points. Depending how you break that down, it could mean 143 rushing yards with no touchdowns or two touchdowns and 23 rushing yards.

NFL.com has Peterson second as well, behind Jones-Drew. Matt Forte (at Atlanta) is fourth.

Interesting to see Thomas ranked 11th on NFL.com and second on ESPN. Just goes to show the the wide disparity in rankings between two of the most visited fantasy sites.
