PvP: Week 12 quarterbacks

The top rated fantasy quarterbacks generally did not disappoint this week, with the notable exception of Tom Brady, whose production was well below his projection.

Here's how the top 10 fared, with projections courtesy of Fantasy Football Nerd:

1. Aaron Rodgers: 25.3 projected points/31 actual points
2. Peyton Manning: 21.6/27
3. Drew Brees: 21/44
4. Brady: 20.7/9
5. Philip Rivers: 20.5/24
6. Brett Favre: 18.1/33
7. Carson Palmer: 17.7/11
8. Matt Schaub: 16/23
9. Matt Hasselbeck: 15.8/5
10. Alex Smith: 15.4/21

Brees was absolutely fabulous on Monday night and had his biggest fantasy outing since throwing six touchdowns in a Week 1 victory over Detroit. He's also in a tight race with Chris Johnson for fantasy MVP.

Almost as impressive was Favre, who has become a must-start regardless of matchup. The bonus for Favre owners this season is that he's thrown just three interceptions. Favre owners who play in leagues that penalize for interceptions had grown accustomed to accepting negative points, but in a most pleasant suprise, he's just not turning over the ball much at all.

Brady, meantime, had his worst game of the season and tops the list of quarterback underachievers for Week 12. It was so bad for Brady and the Patriots against New Orleans that backup quarterback Brian Hoyer entered the game with six minutes to play.
