Browns Not Ready to Panic Yet
CLEVELAND--The Browns have played their season-opening game at home for 10 straight seasons.
They're now 1-9 in those games after losing today to the Dallas Cowboys, 28-10.
It was an ugly start for the team that surprisingly won 10 games last season and narrowly missed the playoffs in the rugged AFC. But the Browns also lost their opener last season and they weren't yet in panic mode this evening.
"We lose opening games," wide receiver Braylon Edwards said. "It [stinks] but that's the way it goes. The last time I looked, we still have 15 games to go. We have a lot of time to get better."
Edwards and others attributed today's offensive struggles against the Cowboys in part to the unit not being together during a preseason that included injuries to Edwards and quarterback Derek Anderson.
"We weren't ready," Edwards said. "We came out and put one good drive together, and that was about it. We weren't on the same page today."
Veteran tailback Jamal Lewis expressed similar sentiments.
"We just didn't connect and it kind of showed," Lewis said. "We just have to bounce back and get it together."
