Collier Reportedly Paralyzed Below Waist

Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Richard Collier reportedly is paralyzed below the waist and had his left leg amputated by surgeons.

Doctors said he had 14 bullet wounds but now is listed in good condition, the Associated Press reports.

Few details about Collier's condition had been released publicly until today.

Collier was shot Sept. 2 as he and former Jaguars teammate Kenneth Pettway sat in a vehicle outside an apartment building waiting for two women, according to authorities.

No one has been arrested in the shooting.

Investigators have said that Collier appeared to be targeted in the attack.

Here's the full AP report.

C'mon--just celebrating monkey culture.

"Steve" assumes a lot.

So I will assume that... you Steve are close to Mr Collier... or maybe you are just prejudiced? Are you racist too?

NFL player = thug? That is prejudice.

Person that weighs 300 lbs = thug? Prejudice.

Black = thug? That is racist.

This guy has lost his leg, his ability to walk and his career... and to make things worse, a lot of the money he made will now be spent in rehabilitation, and medical care.

You should have just left your first comment and been the "bigger" man. Have some respect, some class or just shut up and leave the comment board to those who do.

"The motive behind the attack on Collier is unknown, but investigators said earlier he appeared to be targeted."

From the press reports. Last time I looked I have never been target for a barrage of gunfire.

Why the knee jerk assumption that this young man lived a "thug" life? Sorry, but hanging out at 2 AM waiting for someone you met at a bar is kind of par for the course when you're young.

a simply equation. Live a thug life and you die or are maimed as a thug life. Yes someone else is responsible. The better question is how much was he responsible for what happened.

What a sad story. I wish Mr. Collier the best of luck on his long road to recovery, and I hope the NFL will support him through this process...
