Ravens-Texans Game Postponed
The NFL has postponed Monday night's Ravens-Texans game in Houston because of damage to Reliant Stadium caused by Hurricane Ike.
The game has been rescheduled on Nov. 9 in Houston.
The Ravens were to have a bye that day.
The Texans were to host the Cincinnati Bengals. That game is rescheduled for Oct. 26, when both the Bengals and Texans were to have byes.
The Texans play their next two games on the road on Sept. 21 at Tennessee and Sept. 28 at Jacksonville. Reliant Stadium next is scheduled to be used by the Texans for an Oct. 5 game against the Indianapolis Colts.
There was consideration given to playing the Ravens-Texans game in another city but that would have been difficult on short notice, officials said.
A written statement released by the league and the two teams said: "Short notice made it logistically impossible to play this week at alternate sites."
The game previously had been pushed back from Sunday afternoon to Monday night.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have been impacted by this hurricane," Ravens Coach John Harbaugh said in a written statement. "We will adjust. Our focus now turns to preparing for the Browns."
The Ravens host the Browns next weekend. Harbaugh gave his players Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off.
"Without a bye, we believe we need to give the players the next few days off," he said. "We'll have a Cleveland game plan ready for them when they come in on Wednesday."

Last I checked that play was not reviewable under the rules......and the refs did it anyway.....after the Ravens had already left the field.
You can say that they made the 'right call', but it was still against the rules as they were understood....which is why the Ravens left the field, removed their pads, and got ready to go home. Only to be called back onto the field.....
Now you tell me how that's not considering getting screwed over?

A bye in the second week? May as well not even have one. Looks like Roger Goodell (sp?) inherited the hatred of Baltimore from his predecessor.

At least the Texans aren't playing "home" games against Chicago in Milwaukee...

Cities are destoyed, people have lost their homes and businesses. But yeah, I guess you're right. The most important thing here is making sure your football pool remains in tact.

The Ravens and Texans are getting completely screwed by this. The NFL should have had enough sense to move the venue somewhere else on Thursday. I mean did they really think everything would be ready to go just two days later?
Being a huge Ravens fan I'm not surprised by this turn of events. We get screwed over all the time. Look at what happened last year vs. the Browns.
The Ravens and Texans won't have a real bye week. Just a few days off before they'll need to prep for next weeks game.
Just ridiculous.

Lets not lose focus here. As an avid ravens fan I was disappointed there wasnt better planning by the NFL. However when I see the devastion the hurricane cuased, football has to take a back seat. Please, lets show some compassion here. The game will eventually be played but some people will be affected by this forever. Thank you.
