Knee Surgery For R. Bush
New Orleans Saints tailback Reggie Bush reportedly is undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery today to have cartilage damage repaired.
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported that Bush has a torn medial meniscus and the typical recovery time following such a procedure is 2-4 weeks.
Bush left Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers after hurting his left knee on a first-half punt return. He was to be examined by orthopedist James Andrews in Birmingham today to determine if surgery was necessary.
Bush is to miss this weekend's game against the San Diego Chargers in London. The Saints have a bye after that game.
"Hopefully [Bush will be sidelined] on a short-term basis rather than a long-term basis, and it sounds like that's the case," Saints Coach Sean Payton said in London, according to the Times-Picayune. "From a timing standpoint, it falls with this game and then a bye weekend, so there is a little bit of time there for him as it pertains to his recovery."
