Winslow Had Staph Infection
Browns tight end Kellen Winslow told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that his recent hospitalization was for a staph infection.
Winslow told the newspaper that it was the team, not him, that wanted to keep details of his condition from becoming public and he indicated he was upset that Browns General Manager Phil Savage never contacted him while he was at the Cleveland Clinic.
"A big reason I'm upset right now has to do with" the staph infection, Winslow told the Plain Dealer after Sunday's loss to the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field. "I heard from [Coach] Romeo Crennel, and I heard from my position coach [Alfredo Roberts] when I was in the Clinic. I heard from my teammates. But I never heard from the main man--Phil Savage--and that really disappoints me. Sometimes I don't even feel a part of this team.
"I feel I've done a lot for this team, played through a lot of pain and given it my all. I just thought there'd be a little more, 'How are you doing?' by him."
Savage declined to comment to the Plain Dealer.
Winslow played against the Redskins on Sunday after missing last Monday night's triumph over the New York Giants by the Browns. He'd been released from the hospital the day before the Giants game after spending three nights at the Cleveland Clinic. The Browns had refused to release details about his medical condition, and Winslow initially had declined to comment about it after rejoining the team.
The Browns reportedly have taken steps to sanitize their training facility but this is the second staph infection suffered by Winslow since 2005 and, according to the Plain Dealer, the seventh known staph infection suffered by Browns players over the past four years.
"There's obviously a problem [with staph], and we have to fix it," Winslow told the Plain Dealer. "Just look at the history around here. It's unfortunate because it happens time and time again."

There is a new company in Louisiana called GERMcure.com that has a new product that kills MRSA (Staph). It is called Stay Clean Foam hand/skin sanitizer and has residuals making it last. This product is FDA approved, fragrance & alcohol free. They also have products that will help decontaminate locker rooms and workplaces. This is well worth checking out. Their phone number is 1-800-germcure.
Hope This Helps!

You had better pray to God that you or your family never have to deal with a staff infection. Do a little reserch on MRSA. That is what kind of staff infection in sounds like this poor man contracted. It will spread through your family and can kill someone. It is no laughing matter. I had to put my 9 month old little girl in the hospital for 3 days after she had to have surgery to drain a mrsa pocket under her skin. Leaving her with scars and she is still tramatized over the whole thing. It took the hospital days to get the tests back to even see what they were dealing with. I wil never forget what my child has gone through and I have educated my self on this illness and I am to try and take precautions so it will never happen again. (God willing)

Get a Grip needs to change to LIVING ON THE EDGE.
The NFL has had a policy denial and secrecy as far as the spread of MRSA staph infections. Last year Hall of Famer Jack Youngblood died of staph contracted at the Rams training facility. He skined his knee and got into a bird bath and caught the stap and died seven days later.
The NFL KNOWS it is ground zero for this deadly staph. The unclean condions for their players is criminal.
UNC's Kenny George just had part of his foot amputated from a staph infection. He caught it in Las Vegas at "Big Man Training Camp."
I can't believe someone dissed this man like that.
Get a Grip, get off the playground and let the men play.

I believe Duke U. Med Center has a program to help prevent MRSA infections in athletes. Maybe the program could help NFL teams?
