Adam Jones Reinstated
The NFL has reinstated Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones.
According to the Associated Press, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones announced that the reinstatement takes effect after two more games. That makes Adam Jones eligible to participate in the Cowboys' game at Pittsburgh on Dec. 7.
The cornerback missed the last four games after being suspended by the NFL without pay for violating the league's personal conduct policy.
The suspension came after Jones was involved in a scuffle with one of his bodyguards in a restroom at a Dallas hotel.
Adam Jones will be eligible to practice with the Cowboys beginning next Monday, according to Jerry Jones.
The league did not immediately make a formal announcement. Jerry Jones told reporters that was expected tonight or Thursday.
"I think he's done what he was asked to do," Jerry Jones said, according to the Dallas Morning News, "and as anybody that understands the kinds of things that you deal with to get better, it's probably going to be an ongoing thing. I do know that he does have a good sense of where he is, and we could benefit from that."
The Morning News reported that Adam Jones is back in the Dallas area after spending 30 days at an alcohol treatment center in Boston.
Jerry Jones indicated that Adam Jones could be back at the Cowboys' training facility later this week, according to the Morning News.
The owner indicated last week that the Cowboys would welcome back Adam Jones if the cornerback was reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Goodell had said in a televised interview Tuesday that he would make a decision "in the coming days" about whether to reinstate Jones.
"Adam has been through a period of time where he's gone through medical evaluations, and I'll be hearing from those personnel later this week and we'll be making a decision sometime in the coming days with respect to his status," Goodell said during an interview Tuesday in the Los Angeles studios of the league-owned NFL Network. "But he has to understand that there's a certain standard we're going to expect from him and everybody else, and it now will be up to him."
The NFL suspended Jones indefinitely last month. The league announced then that Jones would miss at least four games without pay and his playing status would be reevaluated following the Cowboys' game last Sunday against the Washington Redskins.
The league called the incident with the bodyguard alcohol-related when it announced Jones's suspension, and Goodell said at the time that Jones had to demonstrate that can curb his off-field misbehavior before being reinstated.
Goodell left open the possibility at the time of the suspension becoming a permanent ban from the league. The conduct policy empowers the commissioner to impose such a ban on a player deemed the worst of repeat offenders.
Asked Tuesday about what he would base his decision about Jones's possible reinstatement on, Goodell said: "Most importantly, the medical evaluations. I've asked him to go through those evaluations and any treatments that they determine are necessary, and making sure that he follows that program as prescribed by them."
Jones was suspended all of last season, while with the Tennessee Titans, under the NFL's conduct policy.

This is such a disgrace to the league to let someone with his past and his experiences play in the NFL. Yes alot of the players have issues and no one is perfect but come on... how many chances do you get to make a mockery of yourself and this league. Fact is, if he wasn't rich, he'd be in jail.

I hope when they play pittsburg, Ward knocks his block off, fine or no fine. Someone needs to make this guy realize he doesn't rule the world.

Well, if athletes didn't want to be held to a higher standard, then they should have got a regular job. While a regular person wouldn't loose their job due to a fight in a club, athletes should.

You right I'm pissed. He beat me to the chance of making a whole bunch of cash, toss it away at a strip club than have the audacity to ask for it back. I've always wanted to be involved in club shooting, get drunk & beat up my body guard while on probation from the league that just wrote me another giant check. Hell yeah I'm pissed but here I come Vegas, I got my stripper money in 1 hand & bail money in the other.

Why does the league allow this type of behavior, over and over again, before they even take action. Mr. Jones should be banned from football and be done with him.

ya, what is really the point if the players just keep getting re-instated? At a certain point don't you have to like kick a player out forever? And what exactly would that take? Does a player have to like kill or rape someone? Other than that though, they are good? Just a few games missed, maybe a year, but if the player is good they will be picked up again, so the good players know they can get away with pretty much anything.
Finally, is there a limit to how many chances a player has? Jones has been suspended before, so whats up with that?

The NFL head office & commissioner are a JOKE for letting this piece of trash still play football for millions of the fans hard earned dollars. I am glad he got treatment but is the revolving drug/alcohol/assault/steroid/DUI/unlicensed gun possession door really going to stop any of these millionaires who get their own set of rules. I really wish that players cared for the game & the show they provide us every week rather than play for the millions of dollars & free rides for life. I love sports but people like Adam Jones need to be kicked out of pro sports FOREVER!

just shows that "Roger" is only concerned with the money and selling tickets/tv cash. If he cared about the integrity of the game, he'd have had to expel Cheatin Bill and revoke superbowl trophies. Not suprising at all. Can we take odds on how long Pac Man lasts until he gets arrested again? I say within 2 months he is in trouble.
