Marshall Planned to Honor Obama
Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall spoke after Thursday night's victory in Cleveland about his planned touchdown celebration that he didn't perform.
Marshall caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Jay Cutler with just more than a minute to play to give the Broncos their winning points in a 34-30 triumph. Television cameras showed him pulling out an object he'd stuffed in his pants. But fellow Broncos wideout Brandon Stokley, followed by other teammates, got to him quickly and prevented Marshall from performing the celebration, which could have resulted in a 15-yard penalty and perhaps given the Cleveland Browns good field position with time left on the clock.
According to the Denver Post, Marshall had painted a glove black and white to show racial unity and planned to put it on, in honor of Tuesday's election victory by president-elect Barack Obama. Marshall read a statement after the game and said, according to the newspaper: "I might get some criticism, but social landmarks are bigger than fines to me."
Marshall, however, did not fault Stokley for stopping the celebration.
"That's what a good, old veteran is for," Marshall said, according to the Post.
According to the paper, Cutler said: "Obviously, I'd rather Brandon save that for a different venue than a football game. We had a lot of guys in the locker room that are politically involved. Obama won, and people were happy."

Yeah, now that Obama has won we are no longer a racist country, right? We needed him to win to prove that, right? If he had lost, we'd still be a racist country, right?
These post-election comments from around the country are beyond laughable.
