Pats Said to be Miffed About Call
The Boston Herald reports that some Patriots players thought a key 15-yard penalty against tight end David Thomas late in last night's loss at Indianapolis was a questionable call.
The penalty stalled a Patriots' drive and pushed them out of field goal range in a game they lost, 18-15.
Wide receiver Randy Moss didn't address that call specifically but said after the game, according to the Herald's account: "A lot of guys are really down because we let a game like this slip. But when things happen, you have to watch what you say. Guys don't want to get fined. But there was some real iffy calls out there.
"Some of the things you wish wouldn't happen. But good calls and bad calls are part of the game. You've got to live with that one, the good and the bad."
My take... The call seemed right. In fact, it seemed like a pretty obvious penalty. Thomas threw a block after the play was over. If the Patriots are upset about the official's call, it seems to me that they're blaming the wrong person.
