Peterson Sent Home by Del Rio

Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Mike Peterson reportedly was sent home by Coach Jack Del Rio.

Peterson, the team's leading tackler, was not at practice and Del Rio was to release a statement on the matter later today, the Associated Press reported.

Del Rio reportedly had questioned the club's chemistry earlier this week.

UPDATE (7:42 p.m.)...

According to the Jaguars' website, Del Rio said: "Mike Peterson was sent home today and did not practice. We're working through this process seeking an appropriate conclusion."

Del Rio did not announce the reason for Peterson's dismissal from the team's practice facility and did not indicate when Peterson would be allowed to rejoin the club.

The team's website reported that Del Rio was displeased by a sack celebration by Peterson during Sunday's game at Cincinnati with the Jaguars trailing, 21-3. Peterson's unhappiness with his contract is believed to be part of the problem, the website reported.

Del Rio reportedly also met with a group of his players on the practice field today and some players' locker assignments in the team's locker room were changed.
