Williamson vs. Childress
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Troy Williamson told reporters Wednesday that he'd like to "duke it out" with his former Minnesota Vikings coach, Brad Childress, Sunday.
Williamson won't get to play against his former team because of a groin injury and told reporters, according to the Florida Times-Union: "We can meet on the 50-yard line. We can go at it. I'd even tie my hands around my back."
Williamson was a failed first-round draft pick in Minnesota and was traded to Jacksonville in the offseason. His Vikings tenure is remembered in part for Childress initially fining him a week's pay for missing a game last season to attend his grandmother's funeral, a decision that later was reversed.
"After that, I had no more respect for Childress," Williamson said, according to the Times-Union. "That's gone out the window, and I don't see that coming back ever. That bridge is burned."
According to the Times-Union, Childress did not respond directly when told about Williamson's comments but said: "I'm not like a woman. I'll give you my weight. It's 190 pounds of twisted steel and rompin', stompin' dynamite. Is that enough humor for you?"
