Pro Bowl Move Not Permanent
The NFL announced Tuesday that the Pro Bowl will be played in Miami in 2010 on the Sunday before the Super Bowl, which also is to be held in that city.
But the league called the arrangement only an experiment and indicated that the timing and site of the Pro Bowl in 2011 and beyond are yet to be determined.
The game will resume being played in Hawaii on a rotating basis, according to the league.
"We are looking at alternatives to strengthen the Pro Bowl," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a written statement. "We will continue to work with the players to make it a great event and will evaluate this concept after the 2010 Pro Bowl."
The 2010 game is to be played at 8 p.m. on Jan. 31 at Dolphin Stadium. That year's Super Bowl is scheduled for Feb. 7 in the same stadium.
According to the league, it will be the first Pro Bowl ever played prior to the Super Bowl and the second ever played in the same city as that year's Super Bowl. Both games were played in Los Angeles in 1967.
This season's Pro Bowl is in Honolulu on Feb. 8, one week after the Super Bowl in Tampa.
