Welker Fined For Snow Angel Celebration

According to the Boston Globe, the NFL fined New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker $10,000 for his illegal touchdown celebration during last Sunday's victory over the Arizona Cardinals at snowy Gillette Stadium.

Welker was penalized Sunday for dropping on his back to make a snow angel following a touchdown.

NFL rules prohibit a player from going to the ground as part of a touchdown celebration.

"It was a spur-of-the-moment deal, and you can be sure that it won't happen again," Welker told the Globe.

How often do these guys play in snow? Where's the common sense? The NFL, lets fine the guys who don't hurt anybody, but continue to leave alone the guys who still lead with their helmets to tackle.

This is becoming even more ridiculous. The NFL is really becoming a pain - it's not bad enough that we'll likely see 8-8 teams in the playoffs while 10-6 teams sit, but it seems that every display of personality of any flavor is being punished.

You know, instead of penalizing the player who scores a TD and celebrates, why not penalize the DB who was burned on the play and then wants to disrupt the celebration?

I think he should recieve an award! That's the single most angelic celebration I've ever witnessed on an NFL football field, during a professional game, by a "professional football player"!
