Cowboys to Release Adam Jones
The Dallas Cowboys have announced that they'll release cornerback Adam Jones after one season with the team.
The move does not become official until Feb. 9, the day the waiver system goes back into effect.
The Cowboys traded for Jones last offseason even after he'd been suspended all of last season, while with the Tennessee Titans, for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.
Jones was reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell before the season but missed another six games when Goodell suspended him without pay for another violation of the policy. Jones was involved in a scuffle with one of his bodyguards at a Dallas hotel.
He was reinstated by Goodell after reportedly participating in an alcohol treatment program. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones allowed Adam Jones to return to the team following the suspension.
The move comes on the heels of the Cowboys missing the playoffs with a lopsided loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in their season finale.
