Peterson Not Miami-Bound
Former Kansas City Chiefs president and general manager Carl Peterson indicated he's not joining the Miami Dolphins' front office, as had been speculated.
"It's not going to happen," Peterson told the Associated Press. "I have a lot of good friends there, but I need to get away for a while. It's been 20 years of making decisions every day and I need a rest."
Peterson resigned from the Chiefs, effective at season's end. There were reports that he might be headed to Miami because he is close to Stephen Ross, who is purchasing controlling interest in the Dolphins from Wayne Huizenga. Peterson formerly worked for Ross in the U.S. Football League.
Bill Parcells's contract as the Dolphins' front office chief contains an escape clause enabling him to leave the franchise without losing any of the money guaranteed to him in the deal if Huizenga sells controlling interest. But Huizenga said after the Dolphins' playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens last weekend that Parcells had told him last Friday he was staying with the franchise.
