Cards Optimistic About Warner Deal
INDIANPOLIS--Arizona Cardinals General Manager Rod Graves said today he's optimistic about re-signing quarterback Kurt Warner, perhaps before the free agent market opens next Friday.
"We're continuing to negotiate and we're just looking forward to getting a deal done, hopefully sooner rather than later," Graves said at the NFL scouting combine.
Warner reportedly has decided to continue playing after saying at the Super Bowl that he would consider retirement. The quarterback, who led the Cardinals to the first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history, is eligible for unrestricted free agency.
Graves said he's hopeful of re-signing Warner before the free agent market opens but doesn't necessarily regard that as a deadline.
"I'm optimistic that we'll eventually get something done," Graves said.
