Colts Agree to Release Harrison, Agent Says
The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to release wide receiver Marvin Harrison, agent Tom Condon told the Associated Press.
An announcement of the move is to come Tuesday or Wednesday, according to the AP.
Harrison has 1,102 catches in 13 seasons with the Colts and topped 100 catches in four straight seasons between 1999 and 2002. But he has been plagued by injuries while totaling only 80 catches over the past two seasons, 60 of which came this past season.
He turns 37 in August and was to count $13.4 million against the salary cap next season. He was to have a salary of $9 million next season if he'd remained with the Colts.
Team president Bill Polian said Sunday that the club would try to agree to a reworked contract with Harrison, but Harrison reportedly was unwilling to accept a pay cut. He reportedly requested his release.
Condon, who represents Harrison, told the AP: "Basically, we were not able to come to any kind of agreement. It was not contentious and the Colts have agreed to release him."
