Jags Release Porter, Florence

The Jacksonville Jaguars released wide receiver Jerry Porter and cornerback Drayton Florence.

Both players were signed last offseason as free agents, and the Jaguars paid them about $24 million in combined guaranteed money and salaries for the just-completed season.

Porter had 11 catches, and Florence failed to break into the starting lineup.

Wow, cha-ching Jerry Porter. I hope it was worth the $1 million per catch for the Jags, I figured Matt Jones would be dumped this year cause of the cocaine thing, but perhaps not now... Porter was a second banana for most of his career behind greats like Rice and Moss, but I guess he wasn't a good pupil or maybe they never tried schooling him. Some desperate will still pick him up, but he is not skilled enough to be a primary receiver.
