'Very Serious' Interest in Burress

At least two NFL teams are "very serious" about signing wide receiver Plaxico Burress, according to agent Drew Rosenhaus.

Burress was released by the New York Giants earlier this offseason and faces weapon charges stemming from the incident last year in which he accidentally shot himself in the leg at a New York nightclub.

Burress's attorneys have been attempting to negotiate a plea deal with prosecutors but any agreement reportedly might include jail time for Burress.

Even so, Rosenhaus wrote on Twitter that Burress could be returning to the NFL.

"Ran wind sprints with Plaxico Burress," Rosenhaus wrote. "There are at least 2 teams that are very serious about signing him so he has stayed in great shape."

Rosenhaus did not identify the teams. There have been reports of possible interest by the New York Jets and Chicago Bears.

Rosenhaus also wrote in a separate entry: "Plaxico got a call from an NFL head coach yesterday and he will be meeting with senior NFL executives in the near future."

hbuschur-

Uhhh, yeah he is getting jail time. You have little to no understanding of the case, the laws in NY, and the current pressure on the DA (placed on him by no less than the mayor of NY), to make sure Plax does time. This isn't an "if" - its a "when" and "for how long".

Will you come back on here and take back your "idiot" comments when it happens, or will you just go away?

You guys who have all posted comments are idiots!!!!! Calm down yes is a great player and he is not going to get jail time!!!! He will probably only do 80 hours community service or something to that degree.

isnt plexiglass suppose to be in the slammer this year? The Raiders could sign Vick and Plexiglass. That would be awesome.

But if he gets jail time he could miss part or all of this season, so who would risk signing him before he gets sentenced?
