Chargers Rookie Wounded in Shooting
Curtis Brinkley, a rookie running back for the San Diego Chargers, is in stable condition in the intensive care unit of a Philadelphia-area hospital after being injured when he was shot around midnight at an intersection while in his car, the Associated Press reported.
According to the AP, police indicated they don't know the motive for the shooting and they're searching for a gunman who got into another vehicle and fled.
The details of Brinkley's injuries are not clear but, according to the AP, a relative told a television station that Brinkley had been able to speak on the telephone.
Brinkley was signed by the Chargers as an undrafted rookie out of Syracuse.
He was a standout high school player in Philadelphia.
