Dungy Says Vick Could Be Signed Soon
UPDATED (10:40 p.m.)...
Former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy, who agreed to serve as an adviser and mentor to recently reinstated quarterback Michael Vick, said on NBC's Sunday night broadcast of the Hall of Fame Game that he expects Vick to sign with an NFL team soon.
Dungy did not identify any teams that might be pursuing Vick, but said: "He's talked to several teams and he has several teams interested.... I think something may happen here pretty shortly."
Asked later if he anticipates that Vick's signing could come within the next week or so, Dungy said: "I think that's what's gonna happen. He's talked to several teams. We've kicked around different scenarios.... I just feel it's gonna come pretty quick here."
Dungy now works as an NFL analyst for NBC. His comments came during the network's broadcast of the Bills-Titans preseason game.
Dungy said he'd spoken to coaches of teams considering signing Vick.
On Monday, it will have been two weeks since NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell conditionally reinstated Vick, who missed the last two seasons while serving his federal sentence for his role in a dogfighting operation in Virginia.
The reinstatement allowed Vick to sign with any interested team immediately. Vick is eligible to play in his team's final two preseason games if he's signed. Goodell is to rule by Week 6 of the season on Vick's eligibility to play in regular season games.
No team has indicated publicly that it is attempting to sign Vick.
Green Bay Packers General Manager Ted Thompson said the club considers all options, and there were subsequent reports that the Packers were giving serious consideration to signing Vick and had sent a front office member to meet with Vick. Team president Mark Murphy said he didn't expect the Packers to sign Vick, however.
Carolina Panthers Coach John Fox did not rule out the possibility of signing Vick but said he thought his team was pretty well set at quarterback.
New England Patriots Coach Bill Belichick did not rule out the possibility, either. But Patriots owner Robert Kraft said during a subsequent radio interview that he did not envision the club making any move that would result in quarterback Tom Brady being out of the lineup for even a single play.
When Vick's conditional reinstatement was announced, the NFL also announced that Dungy would help to advise Vick.
Dungy said Sunday that he'd originally become involved with Vick at the urging of Vick's Washington-based attorney, Billy R. Martin.
He said he isn't certain if Vick is in football-playing shape but said that Vick is "in a pretty good state mentally.... He wants to play football. He misses the game. He's excited to get back."

Again, I hope Michael Vick get his one day. I agree that he should be banned from the NFL for life. I have no idea why Goodell didn't ban him. Remember, Vick lied to Goodell and Arthur Blank in face to face meetings prior to him pleading guilty. I know of no other employer who would tolerate be lied to and not terminate the employee. Arthur Blank washed his hands of him. The NFL should have also.
For all of you who think Vick paid for his crimes, how can one really pay for a life that was taken in such a savage way? It is not like he did it once and became remorseful. He did this many times. He believed and probably still thinks this was OK because his above the laws of man. He is an athlete and has been treated like a GOD. Do you think he lost any sleep after what he did to these dogs? Do you really think he is rehabilitated? Does jail/prison really rehabilitate anyone?
Michael Vick is a inhumane savage. He has no business being employed anywhere by anyone. I don't personally know him, but in my opinion, he adds no value to society. None. Of course, if you are an athlete or politician, all can be overlooked. Bottom line, someone will pick him up. The he will play and get paid.
Again, as I stated above in a previous post, it is a said world we live in where a monster like Vick gets another chance to be a star solely due to his athletic ability. Unfortunately, this is reality. I hope that Vick is never signed by anyone. FYI, Vick should not be speaking to anyone about cruelty to animals. He should be kept away from speaking to anyone. Why give this monster the time and limelight. I don't want my family, friends, associates, etc. anywhere near this monster.

I think it is outrageous that Vick is being allowed to play again. He was convicted and served time for a felony. Pete Rose who admitted to gambling can never be admitted to the Hall of Fame and yet he did nothing as severe as Vick who killed innocent dogs and gambled on them. Running a dog fighting ring is a felony and much more serious than what Rose did. where is the justice? Vick should be banned for life!

Vick is forevermore the dog fighter and no amount of legal obligation to society can erase that stain so copious with blood and agony of multitudes of helpless dogs (and animals due to bait training) on his hands. Dogs that had no choice. People do have choices. How tragic-a dog fighter for America's role model; and people wonder why America is so full of violence. These "lectures" Vicks is doing-I feel it's just a con job to get his old millions of dollars a year job with NFL. Do a little song and dance and play ball. Keep in mind Michael Vick LIED to law enforcement and to the public initially when he was charged with dog fighting. "I am innocent and I will clear my good name" I distinctly remember him saying. Only after his buddies turned him in he changed his tune--so I feel Vick is a pathological liar. He's been torturing and killing dogs for YEARS, including throwing in family pets into dog fighting rings because he thought it was funny, per the USDA report on Vick. Yep-Vick thinks watching animals get their limbs ripped out of their sockets, eviscerated, flayed alive, screaming in agony-that is Vick's idea of funny. Vick was already a multi-millionaire when he did dog fighting-it wasn't for the money - it was for the PLEASURE, which represents Vick's true heart-that of a SADIST. If Vick wants to "lecture" about animal safety he needs to stay out of the NFL and NOT let a dog fighter become America's role model.

Let Vick move forward. I believe in animal welfare and can't understand the irrational venomous viscious righteous people who want to condemn him forever. Get real. He has paid for his wrongs with maturity and integrity. He tolerates your unforgiving meanness, when he doesn't have to. Quit acting so holier than thou. Quit obsessing with him and move on too bigger systemic issues on animal welfare, otherwise, you hatefulness towards him surpasses any wrong he's done. Let him be.

Vick will not be able to pull the wool over the eyes of the coaches and team owners again. It is vick who sealed the deal for himself not playing football again. That is just the way it is sports fans.
Vick is a done deal to the dismay of all his creditors.
August 20th the real story about the Michael Vick case "Bad Newz" will be released, by Kathy Strouse. Vick murdered innocent dogs and everyone will know the truth.

“Vicktory To The Underdog” takes an in depth look at world renowned tattoo artist “Brandon Bond” and his dog rescue efforts – particularly rescuing the infamous Michael Vick fighting dogs.
Rather than focusing on the dog fighting problem, the movie sheds light on solutions leading to “Vicktory” for all the underdogs in the movie – tattoo people, pitbulls, parolees and all the other people in this world that society has turned their back on through ignorance and racism.
The movie also examines the life of Brandon Bond and his struggle with balancing fame, fortune and the Rock-N-Roll tattoo lifestyle with a more fulfilling life that focuses on the betterment of both animals and society as a whole.
Featuring celebrities like Debbie and Danny Trejo, Michael Berryman, Pixie Acia and Donal Logue, the movie takes you on an incredible journey you will never forget!

They are farms built in multi-story buildings right along side office buildings. The floors are slanted so that water will come in at the top floor and then run to every crop on the floors below. A 30 story building occupying 1 city block can feed 50,000 people for a year. No pesticides needed, no crop failures, farm year round, and no diesel needed to haul the food long distances. There is one in Milwaukee now.
They will recycle the water, use the roof for solar panels and wind mills and should be totally self sustaining.

I can't imagine how Dunghy and the Humane Society stooping to help Michael Vick. He could never get back into the NFL on his own. That's because he has not shown the slightest remorse. Dunghy loves him because he's black and the HSUS loves him because he brings publicity to them. I just can't imagine, after all the cruelty Vick meted out during 7 or 8 years to so many helpless animals, that they could see him as a basically well-meaning person. Even his 'work' for the Humane Society is a joke...it's just for show, to fill the NFL's need for Vick to be 'helping' stop dogfighting. Funny, he could hold a press conference any time he wants and say anything he wants to help dogs, but has he? No. That's because of the kind of insincere, cruel heart he has. Being black doesn't excuse his abhorent behaviour. I will never buy any product or support any network or team that supports Vick. There are too many other good athletes out there. Why do we give him any consideration at all. Of course, we all may still have our last laugh for Dunghe and the HSUS.

Too all the fans that are outraged at the possibility of vick playing? You will run out of outraged gas in about two weeks. Our former president started a war that killed over 100,000 people and we not only go on with our lives, some of us support what he did. Just like some support Vick and the NFL. The vick outrage will last until we find a new guy to vilify. Remember how we were soo outraged when the president removed Scotter Libby's prison sentence? That outrage lasted about a week. I will give the Vick outrage about a month and thats if its a slow news month. Had Michael Jackson died the same week Vick is picked up by a team he would get even less press. The outrage will last as long as the news cycle keeps it going. ESPN will be the ones who cover it the most, like every day all day but the mainstream will do a story about it and move on. PETA wont even protest if he goes to the other league or Canada. There outraged is based on the NFL garnering them attention.

No speculation needed...
1. He quit VT halfway through
2. He ran Bad Newz Kennels
3. He ran Bad Newz Kennels as a very high-profile celebrity
4. He tried to lie to his boss and say he had nothing to do with Bad Newz Kennels, or the many buildings, vehicles and operatives (all registered in his name) in its employ
If this somehow qualifies him for 2007's "Mensan of the Year" Award, I guess they've let their qualifications slip a little

Two things, one is you sound dumb saying you canceled your NFL cable subscription after years of paying for it, it took Vick being reinstated before you felt the need? Thats a lie, you did not cancel it but you think it makes you look good to say you did. Who cares about fan backlash. Most of you would watch a public execution if it were televised but yet you are outraged about Vick playing football again? Secondly, with people like you its not about dogs, or Vick. Its about a guy being able to make more money than you after getting in trouble and serving time. Why should he go back to a million dollar job and your life stays the same is why fans are so upset with vick. Heck, he paid for the crime, we are just mad because his athletic talent affords him the consideration of still making more money in one year than most of us make in a lifetime. Thats why you and others are angry. If vick ended up working the 7-11 with a smile on his face you would like him because that would make you feel better knowing he is broke and working. He was working with kids at a daycare camp facility after his release and no one objected that sub human, scumbag, scum of the earth dog killing Mick Vick was working around kids because he was making a reported 10 bucks an hour. As soon as you think he will make NFL money now you are outraged. Most of you are more warped in your thinking than Vick was at a dogfight.

Why is he dumb and uneducated? Because he participated in dog fighting? Or is that just the perception of him because he is a jock? If so why isn't pete rose or Art Schlichter dumb and uneducated. Art got in trouble with the law before he ever made it to the NFL. But these guys aren't considered dumb or uneducated when people talk about them. Truth is all we really know about Vick is he played football and financed a dog fighting kennel. The rest is our own speculation or perception.

Can't help you with season tickets. I too am not affluent enough to visit Danny's palace in the burbs but would not even if I could. I went there once and hated the place. Besides which, I do NOT want to put any money in Danny's pockets. I completely agree with you about using animals for testing. Surely there are other ways to test products form paying humans to computer modeling. My wife and I give to many organizations that fight this practice and as I am sure you know, some cosmetics makers have stopped using animals for testing.

I agree with most of what you're saying, but I DO draw a huge distinction between crimes like those of "Iron" Mike, O.J., Kobe and Ben whose overt violence was visited on their fellow human "travellers."
I'm a lifelong dog person, but the point is brutal, aggressive, Naziesque "animal cruelty" has become an ingrained WAY OF LIFE because of us. Just because we don't see it in the light of day is NO EXCUSE, and, in my opinion, puts us in NO position to judge one, low-life's selfish actions as "better" or "worse" than our own.

I do know here is a double standard in all aspects of life, not just the media. I am a 61 year old white guy who took part in protest marches against racism and the war in the 60's. I also served during Viet Nam and observed that more black folks were drafted by the local draft boards than were whites. But some things stand on their own merits and bringing race into the discussion only clouds the issue. Just as a lot of media idiots do when they claim that the man I voted for has a "Deep seated hatred of whites" as Limbaugh and Beck have done. They don't address any issues, instead they vilify Obama which has no place in any discussion of the economy, the wars, etc. But it works both ways. Kobe admitted being an adulterer and he lost my respect on that alone. If found guilty of assault, I will view Big Ben with extreme disdain as well. But the animosity I bare towards Vick has nothing to do with his race or what anyone else, including the media says about him. To say his involvement was not as great as others involved is minimizing the crimes committed.
That's like saying he didn't actually participate in the lynching, he only provided the rope.
Posted by: chopin224 | August 10, 2009 1:58 PM
Black? Hunting? Whitey? What the h**l are you guys talking about?
I'm talking about taking cheap shots at someone whose crime (dog-fighting, outlawed in the early-20th c) TACITLY reflects the EXACT SAME disgusting behavior (animal research, kicked off in the late-19th c) that's become a CORNERSTONE for maintaining the way we live OUR cushy lives.
Who cares if Vick was "hands on" or not? Or whether it's a "race" issue? Or what level of "torture" his was?
The point is: WE, white, black, yellow, brown...whatever...make CONSTANT, BRUTAL use of 1,000,000,000 animals a year to keep us PRETTY in cosmetics; BEAUTIFUL with new "FDA-Approved" cosmetic surgery techniques; FAT thanks to pigs bred with 6 inch legs and slaughtered by having their tracheas ripped out; and SAFE thanks to monkeys gassed with every manner of WMD poison Saddam Hussein WISHES he'd had the researchers to discover.
...and then we want to heap all our blame, hate and scorn on one, dumb jock? GET REAL!!!
A bunch of vain, selfish b**tards is all we are...
Posted by: civilwarhero | August 10, 2009 1:53 PM
chopin224,
So you're one of the millions of idiots that believes everything he/she reads. Read the actual court reports and you will see that his physical involvement was not as great as the media and PETA made it out to be. He was the finance guy, which does not make him any less guilty.
And if you don't think that there's a double standard in this great country of ours, then you're the one that's full of it. No, I don't blame whitey for everything that's happened in my hugely successful and blessed life.
However, it is what it is. Let's not sugar coat it. It's not a coincedence, that the media and its readers are standing behind Big Ben, but were ready to castrate Kobe before all the facts came out about his case. And it's not a coincendence that Vick is still getting creamed by these same outlets. It has to make you wonder if it were Favre, would there have been such a big uproar? Maybe, maybe not, but history tells us that no there would not have been. Look at McGwire and Bonds. Bonds has been murdered for alleged PED use, while McGwire is and was left alone for the most part.

Caucasians do engage in this disgusting sport and should be jailed for it. I don't know where you got this idea that Vick did not participate. He most certainly did. As described in many articles, he enjoyed torturing the dogs that did not live up to his expectations. You call hunting the same as torturing animals to death? What a cop out to say Vick is being vilified because he is black. I bet you blame everything bad that happens in your life on whitey. You are full of crap my man.
Posted by: chopin224 | August 10, 2009 12:57 PM
With that much hate and desire to see death, one has to wonder why folks like you are limiting all your "beneficent" attention to Michael Vick.
If "time spent tortured" is really the issue, let me assure you: certain mammals are "studied" for up to 3 years a pop before they're put down just so your pathetically unforgiving lives can be made more cushy.
If you really cared for animals and didn't just want some easy target to publicly excoriate (or lynch as the case may be), you'd stop taking your family to McDonalds (et al) and make a lasting difference.
BTW, when the little "Pawn" of a QB does get signed, I'll take your season tickets, since the murder, rape and drug abuse rampant throughout the NFL hasn't dissuaded any of your "mob" ilk from attending. ;)
Posted by: civilwarhero | August 10, 2009 12:51 PM
What is the difference between killing fish, deers, bears, moose, ducks, pheasant, other wild game and putting dogs out of their misery after being mauled by another dog in a fight? Right...Caucasion lawmakers legalized killing our wild life for sport. Trust me if dog fighting was a good old boy's game, it would be legalized, but it's not nor should it be.
While Vick did not actually do the deed, he certainly paid the price for the crime. Again, he has PAID the price. Our country's laws mandate that if you committ a crime, you must pay for that crime if found guilty. Once that crime has been paid for either by monetary fines, probation or imprisonment, you are free to live your life or what is left of it. Vick has fulfilled his obligations and is now free to seek employment.
Most of you guys are a bunch of hypocrits. "I would sell my season tkts if my team signed him". Give me a break the moment Vick takes his new team to the playoffs, all will be forgiven. So please stop this BS and let him be.
I find ironic that no one, not the media or bloggers, absolutely no one is talking about Big Ben and his rape allegations. I wonder why?
Posted by: BroMo715 | August 10, 2009 12:46 PM
There are crimes and crimes and in Vick's case it was no ordinary one. Cold blooded torture and killing of animals comes from somewhere deep inside a person and a few months in prison cannot change that. Let him get on with his life but do not put this man into a hero's shoes!
Posted by: renewoods | August 10, 2009 12:45 PM
You people who minimize what Vick did are as bad as he is. Yea, yea trot out the race card. BS! Any person who did the things he did, no matter what color or race deserves everything bad that happens to them.
If someone were to kill Vick, I would throw a party, just please don't do it quickly. Make him suffer like he did with the dogs.
Posted by: chopin224 | August 10, 2009 12:25 PM
The issue here for me is not dog fighting, cruel as it is. The issue is the PLEASURE of torturing dogs to death in as many slow ways as possible. And the supreme enjoyment of that.
We all know it takes special minds to enjoy that kind of animal torture. Most serial killers began with their enjjoyment of torturing and killing animals.
I would be shocked if any team signed Vick. Can you imagine pulling for his team? I for one would give up my season tickets in protest. And think of the reaction of disgust from the fans of teams he played against. I would not go to see him play then either. And never would I even watch him on TV.
It would be like paying to watch Jeffery Dahmer torture his victims. Or paying to watch a man of his ilk do anything!!! And going rah rah rah......kill um Vick, I mean Dahmer.

Peta members if you are without sin cast the first stone.I have looked an looked in God's law and i can find nowhere where man has paid the punishment Michael has paid for an animal. If Peta would get these dogs out of their bedrooms and replace them with human they wouldn't be so mad. Peta who are you to judge what the punishment of a man's life should be. Understand the game being played by all sides. it's like they arrest Gotti, but treat the hitman that killed 50 people for him like a good samaritan!
it seems the real story still fails to come out. the original story started off with one of Vick's friends being arrested for drugs. he turned and said he knew of Vick being involved with dog fighting. it gave the police and lawyers the big name. Vick financed, but he did not do half the things he is accused. But since he was the finance guy, he paid the higher price. the guys that literally did the killing and ran the kennel got LESS TIME than Vick!!!!
Posted by: oknow1 | August 10, 2009 10:41 AM
I too am repulsed by what Michael Vick did. I can't imagine myself ever doing some of the cruel acts of animal abuse he has admitted to. However, Mike Vick did not invent dogfighting. It is part of the culture he grew up in. I am not saying it's right, and I am not saying by any means that Vick is a choirboy or a saint, but I think he is most guilty of picking a bad crowd, and then going along with them even when their pastimes are illegal and cruel. I do not think Vick is the evil person he is being cast as, notwithstanding the disgusting character of the acts he committed.
More importantly, Vickhas done his time. If society viewed animal cruelty as a crime on the level of murder or rape, then Mike Vick would still be in prison and this conversation would be unnecessary. The fact is, we don't see dogfighting as that serious a crime. We as a society see it as a crime meriting about 2 years of imprisonment. If you think leading a dogfighting ring merits a longer sentence, then work with PETA to change the laws. The fact is, the punishment for dogfighting is 2 years imprisonment.
Further, Roger Goodell - who is charged with defending the image of the NFL, and whose hard line on player misdeeds has gone virtually unchallenged - COULD have banned Vick for life, but didn't.
In the final analysis, Vick made stupid decisions, hung out with the wrong crowd, and committed horrible acts. He has paid the penalty prescribed - by US - for those acts, and now he has a right to try to get his life back on track and earn a living.

I can't believe this country is so soft it would send a man to jail for a dog!
I like football but the NFL is just another racist institution, they had to apply a rule for minority coaches so they could be considered for a head coach job.
Doggie people chill out!
Say after me HUMANS first!

How many felons are welcomed back to their previous Jobs?
Few to none.
Vick has a right to prove he is a changed man
But he DESERVES NOTHING.
This man tortured dogs over and over and over...
Hanging, drowning, electrocuting
Not a momentary laps in judgment not a mistake. He laughed with his buddies, bet and did it again and again..
My advice take a year off, working, showing you mean business about redemption. Talking to kids in the most vulnerable community's about the horrors of dog fighting.
Walk the walk
Perhaps then he might gain some ground with the skeptics.
I wonder how many "free to good home" ads are answered in order to collect the "bait" animals to train fighting dogs?
Puppies… Stray dogs.. Tape their mouth shut… Rip em up… Bait

Who wants PETA in the parking lot on any given Sunday?

To all the moralists responding to your column, your outrage is misplaced. Vick has served his time and will continue to pay in some measure for years to come. There are still dog fighting rings operating in this country and other forms of animal cruelty. Why don't you pursue those abusers and leave the ones already punished alone.

I'm not going to pretend that what Vick did wasn't brutal. I'm also not going to pretend that dogs are people. This cmapaign to cast to Vick as the most evil person alive gets sillier the longer it goes on. Dogfighting has existed for centuries. Lets stop treating Vick like he cooked it up in his backyard. The man did two years in federal prison and lost millions of dollars. He's overpaid on his debt to society. As for his future as a football player, not exactly sure how anyone can come to the conclusion that his skills were declining. His last season was arguably his best. I have no idea how he'll perform on the field now, but I hope he does well. And if he came to DC, I'd be first in line to get his jersey.

Most of us know how morally corrupt Vick is, was, and probably will be. Hard to change one`s spots so to speak.
Almost As Bad as his horrible treatment to the animals..was his continual lying about his taking part in any of it. Thus we CAN NEVER BELIEVE A WORD THAT COMES OUT OF HIS MOUTH.
He did serve jail time, and more importantly, he lost most of his riches. He has certainly paid a high price for his actions. His QB skills were declining prior to his problems. He never was a very accurate passer. Two years out of the game, can only have a further negative impact on his skills. SO IF SOME TEAM WANTS TO TAKE A CHANCE ON HIM..THEY CAN PROBABLY GET HIM FOR THE MINIMUM NFL SALARY. THEY MAY LOOSE MORE THAN THAT DUE TO FAN AND SPONSOR ANGER?
DO NOT BE SUPRISED TO SEE HIM AS A REDSKIN..AS DANNY AND VINNY SEEM TO HAVE FEW MORAL SCRUPLES..AND ARE WILLING TO PAY ANY OVER THE HILL GUY TO COME PLAY. THEY JUST WON`T SIGN HEALTHY O LINEMEN!!

Michael Vick used to clip jumper cables to his dogs ears, attach the other ends to a car battery, then toss the dogs into his swimming pool. Death was not instantaneous, as the gouges and scratches along the edges of his swimming pool will attest.
Michael Vick used to use a clothesline suspended from a two by four to hang his dogs by the neck to kill them, but they did not die quickly. He sometimes had to remove them and try again. Once he gave up waiting for the slowly suffocating dog to die and took him down and stuck its head in a five gallon bucket of water to drown the dog that had not suffocating quickly enough while being hung.
Other dogs were killed by Michael Vick by slamming them repeatedly down onto hard pavement, breaking their backs or necks, another slow, painful death.
When some of his associates would want to give some non-performing dogs away as pets, Michael Vick would not allow it. He demanded that the dogs who did not fight well enough had to die, no exceptions.
How many people will want to buy tickets to see this man pretend that he is not the monster he is. These actions are not a mistake. These are the actions of a person who has no moral compass. Sure, give that man a multi-million dollar contract.

Not only is Vick morally bankrupt but so is the NFL. The Commissioner should be ashamed, he should have put Vick through a year or so of proving himself first. Instead the second he sentence was completed he was re-instated by the league. Among a few other reason like the annual rise in my bill, the other numerous thugs making obscene sums of money in the NFL and the league allowing it all with their greedy hands out, I have canceled my NFL Sunday Ticket subscription of 15 loyal years in protest and boycott, permanently, of the NFL. I will no longer support these greedy slobs, from the criminals signed to million dollar deals to the criminals that pay them, there are much better things and people in this world to spend my hard earned money on.

While I agree that Vick is morally bankrupt and inhumane, and believe that he is not rehabilitated nor will he ever be, he is still an athletic commodity. There are too many teams that could use his skills and talent, if he still has them, including the Redskins.
In general, no athlete should be considered a role model. All professional athletic leagues and colleges rosters contain other individuals with similar characteristics to Vick. How about Pacman Jones, Ray Lewis, etc. All football, basketball and baseball players are treated like GODs in college. They commit and get away with all sorts of crimes that we never hear about.
It is sad world we live in when athletic capability overrules morality and good character but that is just reality.
Some NFL team will pick him up. The Cowboys or Skins are natural choices.
If there is a GOD, Vick will get his one day.

hey...listen...we all know that what mike did was wrong according to the law...because of that he was tried and convicted in a court of law and was sentenced to serve time in prison... forgiveness for mistakes that are made is what we ALL hope will be given to us...mike just wants to move forward...he states he has learned and asks for a chance to prove that he has been rehabilitated... lets not cast a condemning stone...we all want a chance to prove that we can learn from our mistakes...especially when we have been punished for that mistake...just remember this the next time we ALL make a mistake.

Here is SI in December on the Vick dogs:
According to court documents, from time to time Vick and his cohorts "rolled" the dogs: put them in the pit for short battles to see which ones had the right stuff. Those that fought got affection, food, vitamins and training sessions. The ones that showed no taste for blood were killed -- by gunshot, electrocution, drowning, hanging or, in at least one case, being repeatedly slammed against the ground.

First of all, Vick is a douchebag.....and very simply put, no NFL team wants a douchebag as the figure-head of their organization. When people think of their favorite NFL team, the first person they think about is not the owner, not the coach, but who? The quarterback. Any team who would associate with Michael Vick would be committing public relations suicide and they know it. He is too big of a gamble. He is mediocre at best. If any coach decides to put him on their team means instant fan backlash, media circus, ridicule and heckling beyond imagination. Talk about distraction! If there is any team stupid enough to sign Vick, all I can say is they will get what they deserve.

Please give him a chance. To many of you , killing dogs are so bad that the person is no valuable to society. To him, may be it was just like killing deers or squirrels. It depends on how we look at it. Anyone can tell me why we should allow to shoot down as many deers as we want and eat them but we cannot do the same with dogs or horses. I know your answers. Deers are not as smart animals as dogs and it is not unethical to eat deers or pigs. Well, to me deers are lovely animal just like any other animals on earth.
